Notes

  • Expedited Plans Review (as staffing permits): As staffing permits, expedited plans review of fire protection systems and other plans permitted through the Tyler Fire Department will be $150, in addition to the regular permit fee. When available, plans will be reviewed (with comments for approval or correction) within three business days, excluding the date of submittal. The current benchmark for regular plan reviews is five to seven business days. The Expedited Plans Review fee will be charged, regardless of whether the plans are approved as submitted or returned for corrections.
  • After-Hours Inspections: As staffing permits, excluding holidays. After-hours inspections will be available for customers based on the established fee structure. Normal Business hours: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • False Alarm Fees: The Fire Department will notify any occupancy that has accrued five chargeable false alarms during the calendar year, advising them that they will be subject to a fine upon the sixth chargeable false alarm.

Food Truck Inspections

All food trucks (MVUs) equipped with propane, as well as MVUs using electric appliances that produce smoke or grease-laden vapors, will require an inspection from the Tyler Fire Marshal's office. All mobile food vendors must call the Fire Marshal's office at (903) 535-0007 to schedule an inspection. Food truck inspections are conducted at 1520 W. Front St., Tyler, Texas. If the mobile unit does not pass inspection, a follow-up inspection will be rescheduled.

Forms

Please review the Food Truck Requirements to ensure that all requirements are met prior to the inspection. If you have an LPG system, please ensure the pressure test is performed annually by a licensed LPG technician and documented on the provided TFD LPG pressure test paperwork. This form must be turned in to our inspector at the time of your inspection.
