Signing up for emergency alerts is easy! Simply visit RAVE alerts and create your Smart911 RAVE Alert account. You will then be able to select which alerts from the City of Tyler, Smith County, and surrounding areas you would like to receive.

Account users may sign up to receive email and text message alerts. In addition, users may choose to provide information such as medical conditions, pet details, house description, and more. This gives first responders access to critical information on how best to respond to your family's needs in an emergency situation. All information is secure and will not be shared publicly.

Smoke Detector Program

Smoke alarms save lives! Working smoke alarms can cut the risk of death from home fires in half. The Tyler Fire Department has joined the American Red Cross to Sound the Alarm and install free smoke alarms. Call or text (903) 619-0355 to sign up today or request an installation from the Red Cross by filling out the Red Cross Smoke Detector Request Form.

Public Protection Classification

In 2020, the City of Tyler was inspected by the ISO to determine the Public Protection Classification. Effective, May 1, 2021, the ISO PPC rating will be lowered from a PPC Class 2 to a PPC Class 1.

Fewer than 1 percent of more than 46,000 communities in the U.S. are rated as Class 1.

Tyler residents are encouraged to contact their insurance carrier to request the new classification be included in their policy effective May 1, 2021. Residents and business owners should check with their insurance agents and verify the new rate and related lower insurance premiums.
